Many apps turn on the GPS as part of network permissions even if it is disabled via Location services . This leads to depletion of the battery reducing the battery life. The apps is designed to periodically disable the GPS when it is turned on by other apps. It goes to sleep after each attempt and uses only 2-3% of total device power. The app period is adjustable by the user.
