عن الشيخ رحمة الله عليه:
محمد صديق المنشاوي (1919-1969) واحد من رواد التلاوة، تميّز بأسلوب متميز وحزين بتلاواته. ولد الشيخ محمد بقرية: البواريك، بمدينة المنشاة التابعة لـمحافظة سوهاج في جمهورية مصر العربية،[1] وأتم حفظ القرآن الكريم وهو في الثامنة من عمره؛ حيث نشأ في أسرة قرآنية عريقة، فأبوه الشيخ صديق المنشاوي هو الذي علمه فن قراءة القرآن الكريم، وقد وضع أبوه الشيخ الجليل صديق المنشاوي هذه المدرسة العتيقة الجميلة والمنفردة بذاتها، وبإمكاننا أن نطلق عليها (المدرسة المنشاوية)، فأخذ منها الشيخ محمد أسلوبه وطوره بما يناسبه فصار علمًا من أعلام خدام القرآن. وقد استمد الشيخ محمد من تلك المدرسة الكثير الذي كان سببًا في نجاحه بعد صوته الخاشع، ولُقِّب الشيخ محمد صديق المنشاوي بـ"الصوت الباكي".

قال عنه إمام الدعاة الشيخ الراحل محمد متولي الشعراوي: «إنه ورفاقه الأربعة مقرئون؛ الآخرون يركبون مركبًا ويبحرون في بحر القرآن الكريم، ولن يتوقف هذا المركب عن الإبحار حتي يرث الله -سبحانه وتعالى- الأرض ومن عليها».

ذاع صيته ولقي قبولاً حسنًا لعذوبة صوته وجماله وانفراده بذلك، إضافة إلى إتقانه لـمقامات القراءة، وانفعاله العميق بالمعاني والألفاظ القرآنية. وللشيخ المنشاوي تسجيل كامل للقرآن الكريم مرتلا، وله أيضا العديد من التسجيلات في المسجد الأقصى والكويت وسوريا وليبيا، كما سجل ختمة قرآنية مجودة بـالإذاعة المصرية، وله كذلك قراءة مشتركة برواية الدوري مع القارئين كامل البهتيمي وفؤاد العروسي. ويُعد محمد صديق المنشاوي من أشهر القراء في العالم الإسلامي.

تزوج مرتين أنجب من زوجته الأولى أربعة أولاد وبنتين، ومن الثانية خمسة أولاد وأربع بنات، وقد توفيت زوجته الثانية وهي تؤدي مناسك الحج قبل وفاته بعام. وفي عام 1966 أصيب بمرض دوالي المريء ورغم مرضه ظل يقرأ القرآن حتى رحل عن الدنيا في يوم الجمعة 5 ربيع الثاني 1389 هـ، الموافق 20 يونيو 1969م.

محاولة قتله بالسم
رواها الشيخ لبعض المقربين منه عندما حاول بعض الحاقدين عليه عندما دعاه للعشاء بعد إحدى سهراته (أي تلاوة ليلية) وأوصى الطباخ بأن يضع له السم في الطعام ولكن الطباخ أخبر الشيخ وطلب منه ألا يفشي سره وأنجى الله الشيخ من المكيدة.[2]

حكى بنفسه أنه كان مدعواً في إحدى السهرات عام 1963م وبعد الانتهاء من السهرة دعاه صاحبها لتناول الطعام مع أهل بيته على سبيل البركة ولكنه رفض فأرسل صاحب إليه بعضاً من أهله يلحون عليه فوافق وقبل أن يبدأ في تناول ما قدم إليه من طعام أقترب منه الطباخ وهو يرتجف من شدة الخوف وهمس في إذنه قائلاً: يا شيخ محمد سأطلعك على أمر خطير وأرجوا ألا تفضح أمري فينقطع عيشي في هذا البيت فسأله عما به فقال: أوصاني أحد الأشخاص بأن أضع لك السم في طعامك فوضعته في طبق سيقدم إليك بعد قليل فلا تقترب من هذا الطبق أو تأكل منه، وقد استيقظ ضميري وجئت لأحذرك لأني لا أستطيع عدم تقديمه إليك فأصحاب السهرة أوصوني بتقديمه إليك خصيصاً تكريماً لك، وهم لا يعلمون ما فيه ولكن فلان - ولم يذكر الشيخ اسمه - أعطاني مبلغاً من المال لأدس لك السم في هذا الطبق دون علم أصحاب السهرة ففعلت فأرجوا ألا تبوح بذلك فينفضح أمري...

Sheikh mercy of Allah be upon him:
Muhammad Siddiq Minshawi (1919-1969) and one of the pioneers of the recitation marked by a distinct and sad manner Ptlawath. He said by the imam of the preachers of the late Sheikh Mohammed Sharawi: «He and four companions Mqrion; others riding on a boat and sail in the Koran Sea this compound will not stop sailing until God inherits swt earth and them».

His reputation was well received for its beauty and sweetness of his voice and lead at this in addition to his mastery of the shrines of reading deep troubles and meanings of words Quranic. Muhammad Siddiq Minshawi is the most famous readers in the Muslim world.

He married twice begotten of his first wife four sons and two daughters and the second of five sons and four daughters and his second wife died a lead Hajj before his death a year. In 1966 he is suffering from esophageal varices and despite his illness under reading the Koran even departed from this world on Friday 5 April 1389 June 20 th 1969.
