«الجامع المسند الصحيح المختصر من أُمور رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم وسننه وأيامه»، الشهير بِاْسم «صحيح البخاري» هو أبرز كتب الحديث النبوي عند المسلمين من أهل السنة والجماعة. صنّفه الإمام محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري واستغرق في تحريره ستة عشر عاماً، وانتقى أحاديثه من ستمائة ألف حديث جمعها، ويحتلّ الكتاب مكانة متقدمة عند أهل السنّة حيث أنه أحد الكتب الستّة التي تعتبر من أمهات مصادر الحديث عندهم، وهو أوّل كتاب مصنّف في الحديث الصحيح المجرّد كما يعتبر لديهم أصحّ كتاب بعد القرآن الكريم. ويعتبر كتاب صحيح البخاري أحد كتب الجوامع وهي التي احتوت على جميع أبواب الحديث من العقائد والأحكام والتفسير والتاريخ والزهد والآداب وغيرها.
اكتسب الكتاب شهرة واسعة في حياة الإمام البخاري فروي أنه سمعه منه أكثر من سبعين ألفاً، وامتدت شهرته إلى الزمن المعاصر ولاقى قبولاً واهتماماً فائقين من العلماء فألفت حوله الكتب الكثيرة من شروح ومختصرات وتعليقات ومستدركات ومستخرجات وغيرها مما يتعلّق بعلوم الحديث، حتى نقل بعض المؤرخين أن عدد شروحه لوحدها بلغ أكثر من اثنين وثمانين شرحاً.

The book gained wide fame in the life of Imam Bukhari Farawi that he heard from him more than seventy thousand and extended his fame to the contemporary time and received the acceptance and attention of the great scientists and drew around him the many books of explanations and abbreviations and comments and references and extracts and other related to the science of modern even the transfer of some historians that the number His explanations alone amounted to more than eighty two explanations.
